Driver Now Facing Felony Charges After Fatal DWI Crash on Jones Sausage Road in Garner
March 12, 2026Garner, North Carolina — March 11, 2026 — According to CBS 17, a crash that occurred late last week has turned deadly, and the driver involved now faces multiple felony charges.
According to the Garner Police Department, the single-vehicle crash was reported along Jones Sausage Road near the Amazon Fulfillment Center in the 4800 block.
Police said four people were inside the SUV at the time of the wreck. Emergency responders transported all four occupants to WakeMed Raleigh for medical treatment.
When the crash was first reported, two passengers were listed in critical condition, while the other two individuals sustained injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Investigators later confirmed that one of the critically injured passengers died after being taken to the hospital.
The driver of the SUV, identified as 20-year-old Alberto Urieta-Calixto Jr. of Garner, was initially cited for driving while impaired and for underage alcohol consumption.
Following the passenger’s death and additional investigation, authorities arrested Urieta-Calixto. He now faces felony charges, including death by motor vehicle and serious injury by motor vehicle.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
