Greensboro Driver Killed in Early Morning Head-On Collision in Randolph County
April 15, 2026Randolph County, North Carolina — April 14, 2026 — According to WXII 12 and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, authorities are continuing to investigate a fatal crash.
The collision was reported along N.C. Highway 49 near Mechanic Road in the Piedmont Triad region. Troopers say 28-year-old Dominick Difilippi of Greensboro was traveling southwest in a Ford pickup truck at the time of the crash.
A second vehicle, also a truck, was heading in the opposite direction while pulling a utility trailer loaded with lumber. The two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in fatal injuries for Difilippi, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where officials say the individual is in stable condition.
At this time, no charges have been filed. Investigators believe the Greensboro driver may have crossed into the oncoming lane prior to the collision, though the circumstances remain under review as the investigation continues.
