Suspected Impaired Driver Taken Into Custody Following Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Ramsey Street in Fayetteville

Fayetteville, North Carolina — February 21, 2026 — According to CBS 17, authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with a deadly motorcycle collision that involved a driver who allegedly left the scene.

According to the Fayetteville Police Department, officers responded to reports of a crash at the intersection of Ramsey Street and Fernwood Drive. When first responders arrived, they found 25-year-old Ean Alexander Gaskins of Fayetteville, who had been riding a 2025 Honda CB750 motorcycle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say Gaskins was traveling along Ramsey Street and had the right of way when a 2013 Nissan Altima attempted to make a left turn onto Fernwood Drive. The vehicle reportedly turned directly into the motorcycle’s path, resulting in a collision.

Custody Following Fatal Motorcycle Crash

Police stated that the Nissan did not remain at the scene following the crash. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned roughly a quarter-mile away.

After several hours of investigation, officers arrested Roberto Coton Jr., 43, of Cameron. He faces multiple charges, including felony death by motor vehicle, felony hit-and-run, driving while impaired, failure to yield, operating a vehicle without insurance, expired registration, and expired inspection.
