Breaking News: One Dead, Multiple Critically Injured After Head-On Collision in Catawba County
October 27, 2025Catawba County, North Carolina — October 26, 2025 — According to WBTV, a violent head-on collision claimed one life and left several others, including two children, in critical condition.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Settlemyre Bridge Road near White Oak Drive. Investigators said a Nissan Altima, driven eastbound by 40-year-old Christopher Shea Houser of Newton, crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a westbound Infiniti Q50.
Troopers confirmed that Houser, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
The driver of the Infiniti, 22-year-old Isrrael Suarez-Hernandez, also from Newton, was airlifted to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. An adult passenger and two children in the same vehicle were transported by ambulance with life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary findings from investigators suggest that speed and impairment contributed to the crash.
Authorities closed the roadway for several hours while troopers examined the scene and collected evidence. No charges are expected to be filed in connection with the incident.
