Teen Passenger Dies After Falling From Golf Cart in Lake Norman Neighborhood

Mooresville, North Carolina — March 25, 2026 — According to WBTV and local authorities, a teenage girl who died following a golf cart incident in a Lake Norman-area neighborhood was riding as a passenger at the time of the incident.

The Mooresville Police Department is investigating the crash that occurred near the intersection of Swamp Rose Drive and Golden Star Lane. Investigators say the girl was seated in the front passenger position when she fell from the golf cart as it was turning left.

Emergency responders transported the teen to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

In an update, police clarified that the teen was not operating the golf cart at the time of the incident. Officials have not released information regarding who was driving at the time.

Several other children were reportedly hurt in the incident, though authorities have not disclosed details about their conditions.

Community members have begun mourning the loss. ATA Cheer Lake Norman identified the victim as one of its athletes, while officials with the Iredell-Statesville Schools confirmed she was a student at Woodland Heights Middle School.
