North Carolina Motorcycle Accidents, Injuries and Fatalities Remain Prevalent

November 15, 2021

At Dewey, Ramsay & Hunt, P.A., our motorcycle accident attorneys in Charlotte know just how quickly a rider’s life can change when hit by another vehicle. When motorcyclists can survive their injuries, they have a long and arduous road to recovery that leaves them with mounting medical bills and lost wages that can quickly compound the fallout from the accident.

Other times, the motorcyclist’s life is taken without notice, leaving their family reeling from the sudden and often preventable loss.

In two recent incidents, that was tragically the case.

On October 15, 2021, the WSOCTV.com News Staff reported a driver of a car heading eastbound on Fairview Road made a left-hand turn on Piedmont Row Drive in Charlotte, turning directly into the motorcyclist’s path — an increasingly common occurrence and one of the main causes of motorcycle accidents in North Carolina.

The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike after hitting the driver’s passenger side door. He did not survive his injuries.

This led to the arrest of a drunk driver, who was clearly negligent in causing the crash and is facing criminal charges for his actions.

On October 25, 2021, the CBS17.com News Staff reported an accident that happened at 700 North Bragg Boulevard, in Spring Lake, North Carolina, where a motorcyclist was traveling in the area when, for reasons that are not yet known, the rider was struck by a tractor-trailer.

He did not survive his injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
