South Carolina Teen Remembered After Fatal Multi-Vehicle Collision on Interstate 95
March 3, 2026Raleigh, North Carolina — March 2, 2026 — According to WBTW, loved ones are grieving the loss of a 19-year-old from Conway, South Carolina, who died early Saturday morning following a series of collisions on Interstate 95 while traveling to visit his brother.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Dawson Adams had pulled his GMC pickup truck onto the shoulder of northbound I-95 after being involved in a crash with a Ford Explorer. While the vehicle was stopped along the roadside, it was struck by a charter bus transporting approximately 40 passengers. Moments later, a tractor-trailer also collided with the truck, forcing it into a nearby concrete barrier, troopers said.

Authorities reported that the incident occurred around 2:10 a.m. near mile marker 63. Two additional individuals were injured during the chain-reaction crash.
Adams was a graduate of Palmetto Academy for Learning Motorsports in Conway and had plans to begin working in the welding field.
Friends and family members have been sharing tributes online as they cope with the sudden loss. Family friend Cassidy Waldo asked the community for prayers in a social media post, writing that Adams’ life ended far too soon while he was traveling to see his brother.
Waldo also described Adams as someone whose presence brought warmth and positivity to others.
“He had a huge heart and brought light to everyone around him,” Waldo wrote on a GoFundMe page created to assist the family. “His loss has left a deep void in the lives of those who loved him.”
Adams’ brother, Sage Adams, reflected on their close relationship in a heartfelt message, describing Dawson as his best friend and someone who lived life fully.
“I never imagined a day when everything would feel like it stopped,” Sage Adams wrote. “My best friend, my dreamer, my comedian, my support — you will always be loved, missed, and cherished.”
Former teachers and classmates also shared memories of Adams. Melody Lynn Smart, who had taught him previously, remembered him as an unforgettable student whose personality brightened the classroom.
A fundraising campaign has been established online to help the Adams family cover funeral expenses and other unexpected costs following the tragedy.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
