Robeson County, North Carolina — August 9, 2026 — According to ABC 15 News and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a 61-year-old woman was killed after she was struck from behind while riding a bicycle.

61-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed

The crash occurred on East Parkton Tobermory Road on August 8. Trooper B.N. Bullard responded to the scene.

According to First Sgt. S.B. Lewis, Jennifer Dawn Ross and an unidentified vehicle were both traveling east when the driver failed to slow down and struck Ross’ bicycle from behind.

The driver did not remain at the scene and has not been identified.

Ross suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal hit-and-run.
