North Carolina, June 18, 2026,  According to WBTV and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, a 22-year-old Charlotte resident was killed in a two-vehicle collision at a busy Catawba County intersection.

The crash occurred at the intersection of N.C. Highway 16 and Buffalo Shoals Road.

Investigators reported that Sheck Kamara was driving a Hyundai Tucson when the SUV entered the intersection against a red traffic signal and collided with a Ford Explorer traveling through the crossing.

Kamara suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead as a result of the collision.

A passenger riding in the Hyundai, identified as 26-year-old Elijah Taylor, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that authorities described as non-life-threatening.

The driver of the Ford Explorer, 19-year-old Noah Hocking, was also taken to a hospital. Officials said his injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Troopers investigating the incident indicated that neither excessive speed nor driver impairment appears to have played a role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the collision.
