Charlotte Police Investigating Fatal Head-On Crash on Statesville Road

Charlotte, North Carolina — March 12, 2026 — According to the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department, authorities are investigating a deadly two-vehicle collision where officers were called to the 9900 block of Statesville Road after reports of a crash involving injuries.

Emergency responders from the Huntersville Police Department, Charlotte Fire Department, and MEDIC also arrived at the scene.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a Dodge Charger and a Toyota Corolla off the roadway with significant front-end damage. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 35-year-old Julian Allen, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Dodge Charger, 34-year-old Booker Crank, was transported to a hospital with what officials described as minor injuries.

Investigators from CMPD’s Major Crash Investigation Unit and the department’s DWI Task Force responded to examine the scene and gather evidence.

Preliminary findings suggest the Toyota was traveling northbound on Statesville Road when it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and collided with the southbound Dodge Charger. Both vehicles left the roadway following the impact.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the crash and have not yet determined whether speed or impairment played a role.

Authorities confirmed that Allen’s family has been notified of his death.
