Forsyth County, North Carolina — June 24, 2026 — According to My Fox 8, a man who suffered catastrophic injuries in a crash has died several days after the collision, as criminal charges remain pending against the driver authorities say was fleeing from police before the impact.

Crash Victim Dies

According to investigators, the crash occurred during the afternoon at the intersection of Patterson Avenue and Germanton Road. Law enforcement alleges the driver operated the vehicle recklessly and failed to stop for officers on multiple occasions. Although an initial pursuit was discontinued because of safety concerns, officers later encountered the vehicle again before it reportedly fled and collided with another vehicle at the intersection.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized. After several days on life support, his family made the difficult decision to discontinue life-sustaining treatment.

Authorities have filed numerous charges against the fleeing driver, including felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, felony hit-and-run involving serious injury or death, felony fleeing to elude arrest, and several misdemeanor traffic offenses. The driver’s mother also faces misdemeanor charges related to allegedly allowing an unlicensed driver to operate the vehicle and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.

The victim’s family has shared memories of a hardworking man who had survived cancer and chose to register as an organ donor, allowing others to benefit from his final act of generosity.

The investigation into the collision remains ongoing. If the victim’s death results in additional criminal charges, prosecutors may seek to amend the case as the legal proceedings continue.
