Union City, North Carolina — July 2, 2026 — According to WBTV, a Pennsylvania truck driver has been cited after a fatal crash that claimed the life of a woman at a local intersection.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Pageland Highway and White Store Road, the Monroe Police Department reported.

Investigators say 64-year-old Charles Allen Davis was driving a tractor-trailer when he allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel. As a result, the truck reportedly drifted off the right side of the roadway before entering the intersection and colliding with a Toyota Camry.

The woman driving the Camry suffered fatal injuries. Officials have not yet released her identity.

Following the investigation, Davis was cited for misdemeanor death by vehicle and failure to maintain lane control.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
